Do I need to prep for my appointment?
Please arrive to your appointment free of all eye makeup inlcuding concealers and foundation. Try to avoid wearing mascara the day before as well as the day of your appointment to avoid makeup residue on you natural lashes. Wear comfortable clothes when possible; you will be lying downfor a nap. Do not wear contacts or high buns to your appointment, you will be asked to remove them.
What Are Eyelash Extensions?
Eyelash Extensions are individual strands of synthetic fibers made to replicate a natural eyelash. When applied, eyelash extensions lengthen and thicken your own natural eyelashes. The single strands are applied to each individual eyelash, one by one. With proper application, lash extensions look and feel completely natural.
Will it ruin or cause my natural lashes to fall out?
Based on the growth cycle of eyelashes, when applying lashes, lash stylist are trained to look for adult lashes to attach the individual synthetic lashes. Young (baby) lashes are left to allow them to fully develop and when it comes times to re-lash, we have new strong lashes to bond to.Lash extensions will not cause your natural eyelashes to fall out. Remember that your natural lashes have their own life cycle of falling and growing – like the hair found elsewhere on your body. It’s hard to notice small lashes falling out, but when attached to a thicker, longer lash they become much more noticeable! Once the extensions are removed, your own eyes may appear smaller, your natural lashes, shorter and sparser because you’ve been accustomed to a full set of longer, thicker lashes.
How long does it take to apply lash extensions?
Lash extensions are applied while you are lying down with your eyes closed on a comfortable spa bed in a serene setting. This usually takes about 2 hours for a full set of lashes, but also depends on the set of lashes you decide to get. After prepping your lashes, your bottom lashes are protected with a gel eye pad, lash extensions are then applied 1-to-1 with medical grade adhesive. It is a really relaxing, non-invasive treatment and most of our clients take the time to catch up on their beauty sleep.
How long will my new lashes last?
Your new lashes will last between 4 to 6 weeks depending on your skincare routine and your own natural lash life cycle. To maintain the full look of your lashes, it will require you to maintain refills every 2-3 weeks.
How often should I be coming in for lash refills?
We recommend getting refills every 2 to 4 weeks. If you wait too long your extensions will fall out and you will require a full set. Factors such as exposure to humidity, steam or touching your eyes a lot may cause the extensions to fall quicker. Refills can take from 60 – 90 minutes, depending on the state of your remaining lashes. A good sign of when you need a refill is when your extensions are 50%-60% gone.
Can I swim, shower or exercise while wearing lash extensions?
Yes. The bonding agent we use is waterproof and allows you to shower, swim, exercise. However we recommend that you DO NOT WASH your eye area for at least 24 hours after the initial eyelash extension application. This allows the bonding agent to fully dry and prolong the life of your extensions.
How long will it take to Apply Eyelash Extensions and how is it done?
The application process for lash extensions normally takes anywhere from 1– 3.5 hours with someone who is experienced doing these. If you go to a newly certified professional it may take up to 4 hours. You will lay comfortably on a massage or facial table with your eyes closed. The Eyelash professional will then apply an under eye gel pad to cover your lower lashes . Then the extensions will be applied to each individual eyelash on a hair by hair basis
How do I take care of my new Eyelash Extensions?
  • Do not use heavy water on lashes for 12 hours.
  • Avoid hot steam or sauna
  • Avoid running water directly on your lashes
  • Do not rub your eyes
  • Only use water based mascara designed for eyelash extensions (optional)
  • If applying mascara do so from middle to tip, avoid root area
  • Use mild soap and water or water based eye makeup remover
  • Do not perm your lashes
  • Do not use a mechanical eyelash curler
  • Do not pull on your lashes (this may cause your natural lashes to come out prematurely)

What is the difference between Classic and Volume Lash techniques?
Classic Technique is where one single extension is attached to one natural lash (1:1) resulting in added length, definition, and curl.

Volume Technique (aka Russian Volume) is where multiple extensions are attached together by the stylist using the smallest amount of adhesive creating a customized “fan” and attached to one natural lash. Volume Lashes are applied using 2-6 very thin, lightweight lash extensions to a single natural eyelash. Some refer to the different “fan” sizes by the number of individual extensions as 2D, 3D, 4D, etc. This simply tells the consumer the quantity of individual lashes make up each “fan.” We have never before been able to offer such volume and fullness to our clients in a safe and sustainable way until now. The result is unparalleled fullness while still being lightweight and safe for long-term wear. As with all of our services, we can adjust the fullness level, length, and curl to suit exactly what you want.

What is the difference between Volume Technique and Lash Tabbing, Clusters, and “Individuals”?
Volume Technique is where a lash artist creates custom fans of lightweight single-strand lash extensions and applies them immediately onto your natural lashes. Lash Tabs, Clusters, and “Individuals” can be found at any beauty supply or makeup store: they are pre-made little clusters of lashes. These are meant to be adhered using temporary glue, lasting 1-2 days maximum.

Please be aware of what you’re getting before you lay down for your lash service. Pre-made small clusters of eyelashes have been available for decades; these lashes are heavy and are meant to be applied for a single day’s use. Do not be fooled by low-priced salons or nail shops offering “Volume Lashes”. If you are told your service will take less than an hour, RUN!! They will be applying these old fashioned clusters to your lashes with a strong & long-lasting glue that wasn’t designed for them. These lashes may look good for a few days, but they will start to itch, pull, and hurt soon after. As time goes on, they will start to pull each other off, and break off, taking your natural lashes with them.

Why choose Couture Lash Lab over a nail or hair salon?
Eyelash extensions applied by inexperienced or poorly trained eyelash stylists or not a licensed esthetician may damage your natural lashes. Looking in a mirror, you can guess that this is no easy task. Being able to do this properly takes extensive practice, attention to detail, and a dedication to perfection. Be sure you trust the education and experience of the professional you choose. Ask to see proof of education, license, before and after pictures, and testimonials.
How do i get the longest wear out of my extensions?

Some might argue that the up keep of extensions is tough, but with a few key points to keep in mind they can be very easy to maintain. – Don’t Wear makeup! Get a set of extensions that mimic the darkness of your everyday makeup. If you wear little to no makeup a full classic set will usually be enough. If you wear eyeliner and mascara you should opt for a Lite or Full volume set to give you the desired darkness around the eyes. – Do not touch your extensions. Touch your extensions only when you have to clean them or comb them into place. Otherwise leave them alone for minimal shedding. – Clean your lashes everytime you wear makeup! Even if its only on the bottom lid.

Makeup products can produce residue and cause the lashes to slide out. If you only apply makeup to the bottom lid it is important to use soap and water to wash your extension after. Makeup transfers to the top when you blink. – The less makeup you wear the longer your lashes will last. Wearing less or no makeup means having to wash your extensions less which in turn means less cause for shedding. – Maintain Oily skin avoid using oily products on the face. Use rice papers to dab up excess oil produced on the skin around the lids. When applying face moisturizers avoid applying on the lid area. Oils whether natural or not will cause the extensions to slide out if not maintained. – Take care when crying and rinse your lashes when you’re done. Salt in your tears will make your lashes fall apart. – Wear a sleeping mask if you are a wild sleeper. Wearing a sleep mask can help you from bending your extensions and rubbing them off. – Schedule your fills on time. Do not wait till the last lash is on it’s dying leg before you come in for a fill. Scheduling your fills in a timely manner is important for the maintenance of your extensions and maintaining a low cost on your budget. Always aim to come in no later then when half of your extensions have shed out or at the 2 week mark. Waiting any longer then that will mean more extensions have shed out, It will take longer to fill and in the end cost you more money.

The TRICK to wearing extension: – Avoid wearing makeup at costs. – Avoid touching them whenever possible – Keep them clean and oil free -Wear a sleep mask if you are a wild sleeper – come in with 50% of your lashes still on. Follow these easy steps and your extensions will last you as long as your natural lash cyle will permit.
